Daniel Radcliffe trusts it is “pretty undeniable” that Hollywood is racist yet feels advancement is being made. The Harry Potter star considers the film industry to slack “lagging behind” with regards to acknowledging what individuals from all races can offer.
When asked if Hollywood is racist, he said: “Yes. I mean it’s pretty undeniable, that’s the thing, we like to think of ourselves as being a very progressive industry but we have been lagging behind in all kinds of areas and it’s been very well documented.
“I think there’s lots of things about the Oscars, there’s lots of amazing performances every year that don’t get recognised. I feel like there’s a lot that’s unseen about the process.”
However, the 27-year-old star does feel like things have improved slightly as of late.
He added: “I do think that now these things have come up things are going to start changing. I’m starting to see it in scripts that I read.”
And Daniel also opened up about sexism in Hollywood and admits he finds it “crazy” that there is still a gender pay gap.
